Background and Experience

I am a UC Berkeley-certified independent college consultant in Half Moon Bay, CA. I have assisted high school and community college students with college admissions for over five years. In addition, I volunteer as a Senior Advisor at College Track in San Francisco with first generation, low income students and at the Half Moon Bay High School College Application Workshops. I have also been a parent leader in public and private education for the past fifteen years. I worked in the public health field for over ten years and taught high school biology and chemistry in the Peace Corps in Kenya. I am particularly interested in helping students pursue higher education in math, science and engineering.

I survived the college admission process with my own children, who attended Gonzaga University and UC Berkeley. Every year I visit and research numerous colleges and universities, and attend college fairs and professional conferences.

Testimonials

Words cannot express our joy over the news that J. was awarded the Powell scholarship! It is the 'too good to be true' that is true...so many things led up to this achievement and we are so very proud. Thanks for being a very important part of bringing it all together: I am convinced that you were the key ingredient that helped bring all that he knew, experienced, dreamed of, etc together, helping him to communicate in a clear and interesting (and yes, effective) way. I am sure he feels a bit overwhelmed and likely a bit scared...but this program from the outset of me learning of it seemed perfect for him. I love that he will be in a setting with other serious scholars, he will be mentored and given opportunities to apply what he is learning. Thank you, thank you! Hugs and gratefulness!
